2021 Majek 25 Xtreme, Merc 300 Pro XS, sealed bid, delivered to POC

guide out of Port O'Connor, 14 years, mostly Espiritu Santo and the surf off Pass Cavallo when it lays. i ran a 2016 Majek 22 Xtreme and outgrew it. four clients plus me plus ice is too much weight on a 22 in the bay chop and i was turning down trips. the 25 Xtreme with a 300 is what most of the POC guides have gone to. new ones are 120 and up. i bought a 2021 through Pace Ace Motors in Karnes City, sealed bid, boat was at a lender yard on the north side of Houston.

the sealed bid part i did not love, i am used to knowing what the other guy paid. i bid what a 2021 with 400 hours is worth to a man who needs it working monday, which is a little more than a weekend guy would put in. that is the honest version. anybody else running a repo boat commercially, the insurance side was the annoying part and i want to hear how yall handled it.

delivery was a one ton dually with the boat on its own trailer. driver called the day before and again the morning of, dropped it at my slip on the ICW side and waited while i went over it. 9 days from the wire. their page says 14 days inside the US and 22 up to Canada, mine beat that. the trailer needed two new tires, the driver saw the dry rot before he left Houston and pace ace called me about it so i knew before he pulled in. that was mine to fix after, 240 for the pair in Port Lavaca. the boat itself i had asked for extra photos of the lower unit and it took two days to get them, which is the only slow part i hit.

insurance. the six pack policy through my carrier wanted a survey before they would add a boat i had not bought from a dealer. a licensed surveyor from Port Lavaca did an in-water survey the day after it landed, 450, and that satisfied them. nothing to do with the broker, they would have asked the same on a private sale. mercury dealer in Victoria pulled the ECM history tuesday: 412 hours, 61 of them above 5000 rpm, no stored faults, last service flag at 380. good enough for me.

coast guard does not care who sold it. the license is mine, the boat has to be registered with the capacity plate and the safety gear, same as before. title: the bank released its lien, the karnes city lot sent the PWD 143 in with the release, and the title came back in 24 days. i had them handle it, that is part of what you get. the only thing on me was the commercial registration bump with TPWD. the pace ace listing said 412 hours and the ECM said 412, that was the number i cared about. and for the record the 6 month warranty on the motor is nice on paper, but i am 90 days and 140 hours in and have not had a reason to find out what it covers.

closing the loop. 601 hours on it now, 189 of them mine, ran it every weekend of the fall run and straight through thanksgiving week with four clients and 150 pounds of ice, and it floats and runs like the 22 never did. trailer tires were the only money. paceacemotors.net had a second 25 Xtreme up last week for whoever missed this one. no idea what it went for, you never do.
